A distinctive exotic wood blank selected not for chatoyance, but for its unusually structured grain, substantial density and natural surface character.
The face displays long, sweeping dark grain lines that travel through the piece in broad parallel curves before tightening dramatically around a natural knot feature near one end. This creates an almost architectural cathedral / fan-shaped grain pattern, giving the blank a very different appearance from more conventional straight-grained material.
Its warm honey, caramel and golden-brown tones are crossed by darker ribbons that emphasize the movement of the grain. The surface also carries a naturally textured appearance that adds visual depth without relying on reflective figure or chatoyance.
At 582 g for only 1 3/4" × 7/8" × 18 1/2", the calculated density is approximately 1.25 g/cm³, making this an exceptionally heavy piece for its size.

La face principale présente de longues lignes de grain foncées qui parcourent la pièce en grandes courbes presque parallèles avant de se resserrer autour d’un petit nœud naturel situé près d’une extrémité. Cette disposition crée un remarquable grain cathédrale en éventail, presque architectural.
