A long, exceptionally dense Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) blank with warm reddish-brown and copper tones, fine natural contrast, and an elegant grain that runs continuously through nearly 29 inches of solid wood.
Under changing light, the surface reveals subtle movement and chatoyance, with darker brown lines weaving through the reddish-orange background. One face appears warmer and more copper-toned, while the opposite side shows a slightly deeper brown coloration and tighter grain definition.
What makes this piece particularly valuable is its 28 1/2" continuous length. Finding Brazilian Rosewood in a long, straight, usable section becomes increasingly difficult compared with the much smaller blanks normally available for handles, pens or other short projects.
At 471 g for only approximately 1" × 1 1/8" in cross-section, this piece has an estimated density of approximately 0.90 g/cm³, giving it the substantial weight and compact structure expected from a very dense tropical hardwood.
